| What a wonderful time at the 2008 WUSV Championships. I was so thrilled to get to attend this world event. But perhaps even more so, to be able to help out the 2008 WUSV Czech National Team with everything associated with the event. The WUSV 2008 was held at Florence, Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio. Our trip started with traveling to Cincinnati from Colorado beginning October 2nd, with Jana, Janicka and Vasek. On October 4th, we picked up the Czech team members at the airport. We went to East Fork Schutzhund Club for a delicious lunch and afternoon of training on Sunday, October 5th. We went tracking early on Monday morning on fields provided by East Fork Schutzhund Club. A couple team members tracked again on Tuesday morning. Wednesday morning the team had their scheduled training at the stadium, and then things began to happen. The helpers performed with demo dogs, the team captains meeting took place, and then it was draw night. Thursday through Sunday was the 2008 WUSV competition. I was able to watch many of the Obedience and Protection competition and drove to the Tracking field on Saturday with one team member. Sunday afternoon, the Closing Ceremony was super, and afterwards, everyone got to go down on the field to meet competitors and dogs and take pictures. What a super time. Perhaps the hardest part was saying goodbye to my new friends at the airport as they headed back home to the Czech Republic. I hope that we get to meet again. |
